For this Montes Alpha Carmenere, the grapes are grown in two very important vineyards in the Colchagua Valley, specifically the Apalta and Marchigüe vineyards. It's a true celebration here, and everything is perfect. The soil structure with many different layers and the perfect climate. The river provides the perfect cooling, allowing the harvest to grow beautifully and evenly. It is therefore harvested entirely by hand, and a very strict selection process is applied during the Carmenere grape harvest. Only the very best grapes are collected and brought to Montes. After pressing, this red wine is aged for a full twelve months in oak barrels. The barrels are stored in Montes's magnificent wine cellar, where this red wine builds its full potential.
Upon opening the bottle, we immediately smell a very refined aroma of black fruit with just the right amount of spice. In the glass, it blew a beautiful deep purple-red. All our senses were stimulated by a variety of nuances in the aroma. For this Montes Alpha Carmenere, we noted notes of black fruit, white pepper, dark chocolate, plums, and blackberries. The palate was intense and beautifully full on the palate, with plenty of rich black fruit and a light spiciness.
