We have to cross the Channel, to a 'wine country' that, at first glance, isn't a traditional wine country. Winemaking in the United Kingdom is still in its infancy, but wine experts worldwide agree: it has the potential to become a serious competitor to continental wines. Champagne, in particular, should be prepared, as England's sparkling wines are formidable. There are two reasons for this. The chalky soils of southern England are very similar to those of northern France—the two countries were once contiguous. Another reason for winemaking is climate change. This allows wine to be grown increasingly further north, as we see in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Gusbourne Winery was founded in 2004 and has conquered the world of fine dining in a relatively short time. Its goal was to create exquisite sparkling wines that complemented the finest dishes. We can safely say they've more than succeeded. This impressive Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs is a gastronomic masterpiece, a must-have for many Michelin-starred restaurants. Gusbourne's vineyards—approximately 90 hectares in total—are located in Sussex and Kent and include the "big three" of Champagne: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. For this Blanc de Blancs sparkling wine, Gusbourne chose only the Chardonnay grape to emphasize the fullness and creaminess of the sparkling wine.

Only the finest Chardonnay grapes are used for this Blanc de Blancs. It's a sparkling wine full of power and texture—it will linger in your memory for a long time. The signature aromas of green apple and citrus are the first to strike. However, thanks to the aging, complex notes unfold quite quickly on the palate.
