What makes this white wine so special? The grapes are planted in the Languedoc-Roussillon. This area is currently completely back in fashion and is home to beautiful wineries. Thanks to the Mediterranean climate, the grapes receive many hours of sunshine, and thanks to the location by the sea, they also get enough coolness to prevent the ripening process from happening too quickly. This allows the wines to mature perfectly and at their own pace. When the grapes reach the right ripeness, they are harvested in the very early morning. The reason for harvesting early in the morning is that the grapes are still “sleeping.” This allows them to retain their wonderful freshness and keeps the skin intact until pressing. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand, so that only the best grapes are selected through strict selection for pressing. After the vinification process, this delicious white wine is aged for several months in used French oak barrels to add even more suppleness to this gem.
Curious about the taste by now? We certainly are! The color is a beautiful straw yellow with a golden shimmer. The aroma features a pleasant Viognier bouquet of flowers, yellow and white fruit, and pleasant vanilla. On the palate, this Delbeaux Premium Viognier is pure and refined. Beautiful nuances of pear, apricot, melon, and mango create a wonderful interplay in the mouth. The finish is very soft, smooth, but also pleasantly long with a light vanilla finish. It is no wonder that well-known restaurants, including a top restaurant in Maastricht, are very keen to work with this white wine!
