The 1000 hectares of vineyards of Winzer Krems
The Winzer Krems winery was founded in 1938 and, with 1,480 members and nearly 1,000 hectares of vineyards, is now one of the largest cooperatives in Austria. The vineyards are located in and around Krems, on the northern bank of the Danube just west of Vienna. Here, temperature fluctuations between day and night are significant. Combined with the autumn fog and high humidity, this results in aromatic and refined wines. Modern Austrian winemaking is characterized by a concerted legislative initiative to promote quality. For generations, the country's winemakers have crafted Austria's unique grapes into traditional wines for local consumption and wholesale sales abroad.
