In 1970, Bodega Coto Mayor was founded in Rioja by a group of winegrowers with a single goal: to produce the finest Rioja wine at a top price. With this in mind, they started this collaborative bodega, and it proved a path to success. The wines were acclaimed and won numerous international wine awards, which was inevitable, as the cooperative winegrowers had beautiful vineyards. The old, thick stems still produce a top-notch harvest today, including for this white Verdejo. Coto Mayor has since grown into a significant and large winery, now owning over 100 hectares of vineyards. Many winegrowers have joined in recent years. In short, Rioja wines of pure class.

The Rioja Verdejo harvest

This new white wine from Coto Mayor in Rioja is truly delightful, a full-bodied Verdejo. The vineyards, full of this magnificent grape, are situated quite high, at around 780 meters. The climate here is perfect for the Verdejo grape: warm afternoons, cool nights, and a rich soil structure produce powerful and fresh Verdejo grapes. These are harvested by hand in the early morning to preserve the freshness of the grapes, which is truly delicious. The old Verdejo grapes are located in Finca Carbonera, which is renowned for its excellence. The juice is truly priceless.

The aroma and taste of the white Coto Mayor wine

On the nose, this white Coto Rioja reveals intense tropical aromas with a hint of fennel. The palate is refreshing and ripe, with abundant fruit nuances of green apple, lime peel, bell pepper, and a hint of passion fruit. A perfect glass for any occasion.
