The growing season in La Mancha was characterized by abundant sunshine and cooling winds, ensuring optimal ripening. Sharply falling night temperatures helped to preserve freshness and purity in the organic grapes.

What a treat, this fully organic Merlot from Pure Wines. We immediately recognized the name; its purity and smoothness are unparalleled at this price point. After a bit of research, we discovered that Bodegas Yuntero is the leading name behind Pure wines. Located in the heart of the Spanish wine region of La Mancha, the winery began in 1954 as a cooperative. A group of winegrowers wanted to vinify their fine wines, and they succeeded magnificently. The number of affiliated winegrowers now stands at 700, making it one of the largest wineries in Spain. Their knowledge and experience are immense, and we taste all of that in this Pure Organic Wine Merlot.

The harvest of the Merlot grapes

For this red wine from Pure, Merlot grapes are grown in the warm La Mancha wine region. Here, the Merlot bunches for this red wine hang from very old vines. The climate here is perfect for the Merlot bunches: plenty of sunshine, cool winds, falling nighttime temperatures, and nutrient-rich soil all contribute to excellent results. Pure Winery is proud of its Merlot, whose softness and ripeness are all evident in this red wine. When the organically harvested bunches are ripe, they are harvested early in the morning to prevent damage and oxidation. Once the Merlot bunches arrive at Pure Winery, they are immediately pressed to guarantee purity and ripeness.

The aroma and taste of the Pure Organic Wine Merlot

A Merlot as it should be: a deep purple color with a red sheen. Aromas of forest fruits, complemented by notes of cassis and fresh strawberries. On the palate, this red Pure Organic Wine Merlot is a pure and ripe Merlot with plenty of depth. On the palate, a broad bouquet of black and red fruit is revealed, along with a lovely presence of spice and caramel notes. The finish is very smooth and ripe, making this red wine a true crowd-pleaser.
