Vintage Report

After a consistently growing season, the harvest for this vintage has proven to be phenomenal.

The Tempranillo vineyards of the Si winery are located in the sun-drenched Iniesta wine region of Castilla-La Mancha. The vineyard is unique because of its high altitude, providing the grapes with natural protection from the cool Mediterranean breeze and pests and mold. This allows the Si family to produce a fully organic wine from the Tempranillo grape. But this doesn't happen automatically; the Si winemaker explains that hard work in the vineyards is essential. Extensive pruning, plowing, and continuous monitoring are essential for achieving the best results, and we believe they've more than succeeded.

The Tempranillo vineyard has a long history of growing the finest grapes for decades. The harvest, after a consistent growing season, is phenomenal, and the grapes are harvested early in the morning. This is to prevent damage to the grapes and to prevent oxidation during transport. When the Tempranillo grapes arrive at the Si winery, they are sorted, and only the finest grapes are used in this red wine. The juice is aged in the Si cellars, making it more than just a regular wine.

What does the Si Tempranillo taste like?

On the nose, it's a full-fledged Spanish wine, with abundant red fruit and aromas of cherries, plums, and hints of eucalyptus. The color is a deep red with a purple sheen that's more than inviting. On the palate, this red Tempranillo transports you to the finest offerings from this region. Slightly mineral and full-bodied, with recognizable notes of wild fruit, it gives the wine its roundness and complexity. The finish is lingering. A very pleasant wine to drink on its own, but also ideal with red meat, roasts, game, and strong cheeses.
