Vintage Report
In 2023, comparable Spanish regions achieved a maximum score of 92T, indicating excellent quality. The wines are currently still youthful and tannic, which suggests good aging potential.
The name Pegaso is named after the famous Spanish car and truck manufacturer, which is highly sought after by collectors. Zeta represents the combination of grapes grown on both granite and slate soils. It is precisely the latter that gives this wine its unique flavor. Telmo discovered a unique vineyard, resulting in this fruity and floral Pegaso Zeta.
A unique vineyard for this Pegaso Zeta
Unique winemaker Telmo Rodriguez is also known as the "driving winemaker." He loves to travel throughout Spain in search of the most beautiful winemaking locations. That's how he discovered the old organic Garnache vineyards in Cebreros. Situated on slopes at an altitude of 900 meters, these vineyards proved to be the perfect spot for planting Garnache grapes. So, in 1999, he began restoring the vineyard. The soil consists of slate and granite. And that's precisely what makes the location, and the resulting wines, so special. He harvests the grapes entirely by hand, after which the meticulous vinification process follows in the winery. Fermentation takes place in large, old wine barrels with the presence of natural yeasts. These old barrels don't impart much flavor, which is exactly what Telmo has in mind. The wine spends six months in the wooden barrels and then ages for another six months in stainless steel tanks. This preserves the pure fruit character.A glass full of fruity and floral notes
The ruby red color likely already reveals the delicious fruity aromas that quickly greet you. Red currant, strawberry, and raspberry dominate in the glass, accompanied by floral notes. The fruity character is also clearly evident on the palate, complemented by soft spices. This gives the wine a smooth mouthfeel. Refined and ripe tannins fill the glass, and the mild acidity balances everything out. A high-quality red wine with a pleasant finish.Product details
