The vines for this Blauburgunder Pinot Nero are planted at an altitude of 350 meters. This altitude provides the necessary cooling during the nights, which is responsible for the freshness of the grapes. As we've come to expect from Pinot Nero, it produces beautifully delicate wines. And in this case, it once again demonstrates why it's such a popular grape variety.

Quality wines from Tolloy

For centuries, we've had to look to Italy for quality wines, and this Blauburgunder Pinot Nero from the Tolloy wine series is no exception. Mezzacorona is the clear market leader in the Trentino region. They own 2,400 hectares of vineyards on the rolling hills surrounding Salorno. Thanks to the neighboring Alps, the vineyards are protected from the cold winds. The terroir is unique, and this allows the grapes to not only develop exceptional qualities, but also to reach peak ripeness thanks to the climate. Tolloy wines are named after a renowned 18th-century innkeeper, Johann Tolloy. The grapes are harvested at peak ripeness and taken almost immediately to the winery. This allows the Pinot Nero and Blauburgunder grapes to retain their fruitiness. At the winery, the grapes undergo traditional red wine vinification at a controlled temperature of around 25 degrees Celsius. This is followed by 10 months of aging in narrow oak barrels.

A complete wine with attractive tannins

The Blauburgunder Pinot Nero appears in the glass with a garnet red color. Red fruit bursts from the glass, almost immediately seducing you with the first sip. A smooth and soft flavor spreads on the palate. Cherries, berries, forest fruits, and slightly spicy notes all appear. Try leaving the glass alone. A full-bodied wine with attractive tannins makes it a perfect pairing. Pour this Pinot Nero with, for example, spaghetti or pork tenderloin with mushroom sauce. Or enjoy it on its own. It's plenty powerful.
