Casa Silva's dessert wine, unique, ripe, and delicately sweet, is the pinnacle of excellence. This dessert wine requires a truly exceptional effort, as producing a wine like this is no easy feat. Winemaker Mario Geisse has chosen the renowned Sémillon grape. This grape is particularly renowned in the Sauternes region, where some of the world's best dessert wines are still produced. But to give this Casa Silva Late Harvest a slightly more distinctive character, a portion of Gewürztraminer is also added. This proved a brilliant move, as this dessert wine has become one of Chile's finest.

Manual harvest for Casa Silva Late Harvest Semillion Gewurztraminer

The grapes are dried in the vineyard, or harvested very late, hence the name Late Harvest. Because of the late picking, the grapes dry out a bit and accumulate a lot of sugar. They are then almost rotting. A very strict selection follows, as only the right and usable grapes are used. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, and the wine is not aged in wood, creating a lovely, fresh, and sweet style.

The scents and flavors of Casa Silva Late Harvest

Imagine that it takes two to three bottles of regular wine to make one bottle of dessert wine. Yes, you read that right, but Mario simply wants the best and is eager to present a top-notch Chilean dessert wine. And he more than succeeded. Casa Silva has also received numerous awards for their craftsmanship. The aroma of this wine reveals notes of flowers, roses, lychee, and orange. The palate is full and creamy, with the perfect sweetness, abundant fruit notes of mango, pineapple, lychee, and orange, as well as honey and caramel. Bring on the dessert, or enjoy it as an evening glass of wine.
