Vintage Report

The 2020 vintage in Argentina is rated by Robert Parker as extraordinary with an excellent score of 96 points. The wines from this vintage show powerful tannins and are slow-maturing, indicating great aging potential.
What a plump Cabernet Sauvignon, this Luigi Bosca from Argentina! Cabernet Sauvignon grows best in warm afternoons and cool nights, which is why Luigi Bosca planted these vines in El Paraiso, where conditions are ideal for developing these grapes. And that's proving to be a particularly good move.

Leading player in the wine world

The winery that produces Luigi Bosca wines today was founded in 1901 by Leoncio Arizu, a Spanish citizen from Navarra who settled in Mendoza in 1890. The chosen location was the Vistalba Valley, in the Luján de Cuyo region, an area that, due to its characteristics, earned the first "Controlled Designation of Origin" in the Americas. In this way, Luigi Bosca launched the first Malbec DOC in Argentina and Latin America. They refined their winemaking to such an extent that Luigi Bosca produces wines with a distinctive personality and special characteristics. Today, the winery is a leading player in the fine wine segment worldwide. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes come from the El Paraiso vineyard in Maipu. At 800 meters above sea level, the climate is ideal for this grape variety. The vines are over 80 years old, and the yield is limited to 7 tons/ha. The grapes are harvested by hand, then carefully selected and pressed. The wine is aged for fourteen months in French oak barrels and can be aged for approximately ten years.

A powerful Cabernet Sauvignon from Luigi Bosca

And what a scent it has! Its nuances of berries, cherries, vanilla, and spices. The palate is also very full, thanks in part to the oak aging, which enhances this wine immensely. The result is a powerful flavor with notes of leather, vanilla, tobacco, and black fruit. A complete wine that pairs wonderfully with red meat, small game, and hard cheeses. But it's also, of course, wonderful to enjoy on its own.
