A characteristic Malbec from Piedra Negra, made entirely from Malbec grapes. It's Argentina's most distinctive red grape variety. Originally found in southwestern France, it also thrives in Argentina. Thanks to the perfect combination of sun and climate, the grapes ripen perfectly. The result is a powerful wine with abundant fruity aromas and a ripe flavor.

The adventure of Lurton and Piedra Negra

Brothers Jacques and Francois Lurton were already incredibly enthusiastic about the winemaking potential of Mendoza on their first visit to the then-unknown region. Their winemaking adventure began in 1992 with the Argentinian winery Catena. In 1996, they decided to start their own business, and since then, Piedra Negra wines have been marketed. Approximately 200 hectares of vineyards are now under cultivation, and here on the Valle de Uco plateau, top-quality wines are produced. The soil consists of gravel, volcanic sand, and pebbles, and the grapes enjoy an optimal climate. The Malbec grapes are harvested entirely by hand at peak ripeness, usually around early March. The grapes macerate for about nine hours to impart the desired color and extract the primary aromas. This is followed by a slow pressing and cold fining. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at a moderate temperature. Finally, some of the wine is aged in French oak barrels.

What does the Piedra Negra Alta Coleccion Malbec taste like?

This Coleccion Malbec shines with a deep ruby red color in the glass. You're immediately seduced by beautiful aromas of ripe red and black berries, raspberries, blackberries, and currants. The palate is packed with fresh fruit and a soft, mature tannin structure. What a fantastic Argentinian wine, beautifully balanced with a long finish. Pour this red wine with a deliciously spicy dish and enjoy.
