This Portillo Pinot Grigio from Argentina's Uco Valley surprises with its fresh, vibrant style. At high altitude in Mendoza, the grape develops just that little bit of extra tension and elegance. Light, pure, and fruit-driven, just as you'd expect from a good Pinot Grigio—but with a touch of Andean character.
Vineyards and region – Pinot Grigio at 1,350 meters altitude
The grapes for this wine are grown in the cooler zones of the Uco Valley, at the foot of the Andes. The vineyards are located at approximately 1,350 meters above sea level, resulting in significant temperature variations between day and night. This allows the grapes to retain their fresh acidity and develop a subtle aromatic profile.
Vinification and style – elegance through simplicity
After harvest, the grapes are immediately pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks at a low temperature. There is no oak aging. The wine remains pure and light, with a focus on fruit and freshness.
Tasting notes
Bright straw yellow in the glass. The nose is elegant with aromas of peach, pear, and citrus blossom. The palate is juicy, mineral, and refreshing, with a lovely balance of fruit and acidity. The finish is dry and clean.
Serving suggestions
Perfect with light fish dishes, summer salads, or grilled vegetables. Also delicious as an aperitif. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees Celsius.
