Vintage Report

The 2020 vintage in Argentina is exceptionally good and received a score of 96 points. The wines are still very young and tannic, indicating excellent aging potential.
The Poligonos Cabernet Franc Paraje Altamira from the Zuccardi winery is an impressive, intense red wine from Altamira, located at an altitude of 1100 meters in the Uco Valley. The ideal conditions in this region allow the grapes to ripen optimally without losing their freshness.

Tradition and innovation at Zuccardi

Zuccardi Winery was founded in 1963 by Alberto Zuccardi in the Mendoza province of Argentina. It is one of the oldest and most prominent wineries in Argentina, with a strong focus on innovation and sustainability. Alberto began growing grapes on a small farm in the Maipu region. As his business grew, he also began growing grapes in other regions of Mendoza, including Paraje Altamira. Thanks to his commitment to quality and technology, the company has become one of the most renowned wineries in Argentina. Today, the company is led by the third generation of Zuccardis, including Sebastián Zuccardi, who has helped the company develop into a major player in the Argentine wine industry. The grapes are carefully selected for ripeness and health. They are then pressed and cold-macerated for about five days in the winery. This helps extract color and aromas from the grapes. The must is then heated to initiate fermentation. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature and lasts about 15 days. After fermentation, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for about 12 months. After aging, the wine is bottled and then aged in the bottle for at least three months before release.

What does the Zuccardi Poligonos Cabernet Franc Paraje Altamira taste like?

The Zuccardi Poligonos Cabernet Franc Paraje Altamira has an intense, dark color and aromas of red and black fruits, such as cassis and black currant, with notes of spice, tobacco, and cedar. The palate is full and rounded, with soft tannins and a good balance between fruitiness and oak. The finish is pleasant and long. A perfect wine to pair with red meat, game, or cheese.
