Vintage Report

The 2021 vintage in Argentina was rated 92, indicating excellent quality. However, the results were inconsistent, even among the best wineries.
Zuccardi's Polígonos series focuses on the unique aspects of terroir, including climate, soil, and social, economic, and historical factors of the region from which the wines originate. The vineyards are named after the people of the surrounding area. Each wine is made from a single grape variety, such as the Zuccardi Poligonos Semillon Tupungato Mendoza, which is part of this series and is made entirely from Semillon grapes from the Gualtallary, Tupungato vineyard.

The beginning of the Zuccardi winery

The Zuccardi family emigrated from Italy to Argentina in the late 19th century and established an irrigation company there, as agriculture in Argentina is nearly impossible without water. In 1963, Alberto V. Zuccardi, father of current director José Alberto Zuccardi, planted the first vineyards in Maipú as a demonstration of the company's efficiency. Ten years later, he purchased new land east of Mendoza, and José Alberto has led the winery since 1985. The Zuccardi Poligonos Semillon Tupungato Mendoza is made from grapes harvested from vineyards located in Gualtallary, Tupungato, in the Mendoza region of Argentina. The grapes are hand-harvested at the perfect point of ripeness and carefully selected for processing. The vinification process begins with the grapes being pressed, and the must is cooled to maintain the desired fermentation temperature. The must is then placed in stainless steel tanks for a cold fermentation that lasts for several days. This preserves the fresh flavors and aromas of the grapes. Finally, the wine is aged for several months in stainless steel tanks.

The smell and taste of Zuccardi Poligonos Semillon Tupungato Mendoza

The Zuccardi Poligonos Semillon Tupungato Mendoza is a beautiful white wine with aromas of citrus fruits, such as lime and grapefruit, complemented by notes of peach and flowers. On the palate, the wine is fresh and soft, with a pleasant balance of acidity and sweetness. The finish is long and elegant with a subtle minerality. This wine is perfect for serving with fish, poultry, or goat cheese dishes. It also pairs well with a casual lunch or an aperitif.
