The 2020 vintage in Germany is considered excellent, with scores reaching up to 96 points in reference charts. The wines from this year show excellent structure and great aging potential.

The flagship of Weingut Knipser. Is it the years of experience? The excellent grapes? Or the skilled winemakers? It must be a combination of all three. This red wine belongs not only to the top of the Palatinate and Germany, but of the entire world. Knipser Cuvee X is an almost legendary wine from Weingut Knipser, a winery that was founded in 1876. For the first 75 years, the winery was not very important. Some wine was produced, but not commercially. It was Heinz Knipser who started professionally bottling bottles in the Palatinate region in 1948. From the 1980s, when his son Werner took over the winery, the winery flourished. Today, it is among the top in Germany, partly thanks to this beautiful Knipser Cuvee X.

The vineyards of Knipser Cuvee X

Over many years, Wijnhuis Knipser has managed to amass no less than 75 hectares of vineyards in the area around Laumersheim. They have planted many hectares with local varieties, but nowadays many international varieties also have an important place in the Weingut Knipser range. Knipser was the first when they started planting international varieties on a large scale in 1989. This Knipser Cuvee X is a beautiful blend of three international top varieties: The Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and the Merlot have an equal share in this red wine. It is a Medoc style wine, but with German finesse. We can certainly say a beautiful combination.

What the Mona Lisa is to the Louvre, Knipser Cuvee X is to German winegrowing. It is a true interplay, for which the winemaker is still honored. It is a crown jewel from the cellars of Weingut Knipser. The aroma and taste make you fall in love spontaneously. Put your nose in the glass, and you immediately start daydreaming, so incredibly delicious. You smell heavy notes of cedar, leather and tobacco. This is mainly due to the oak aging of 18 to 20 months. Knipser Cuvee X is a wine with character and body. The taste gives you a spicy character but also nuances of coffee, cassis and cedar play with your taste buds. A great party to drink, from the first sip to the very last drop.
