The winery began crafting southern Italian wines decades ago because they believed in the climate and terroir of Salento. Through hard work in the vineyards and a state-of-the-art winery, they have succeeded in creating great wines, just like this red Callesella. The grape varieties used are all local varieties that thrive in Salento's warm climate. This red wine is made exclusively from Negroamaro grapes, sourced from very old vines.

The Negroamaro bunches thrive in Salento's warm climate. They receive ample sunshine, and their ageing vines are well-equipped to withstand the heat. Their deep roots provide the vines with ample moisture, and the fresh wind from them provides a cooling breeze. This allows the Negroamaro bunches to gain significant strength during the growing season and they are harvested in the morning at ideal ripeness. Upon arrival at Callesella, the bunches are thoroughly inspected, and only the finest are used in this red wine.

The smell and taste of the Callesella Negroamaro

This Callesella red wine is like falling into a warm bed, so soft is it. It reveals a deep red color as you pour it, tantalizing our senses. It flows from the glass, bringing to mind fresh red jam, raisins, and ripe plums. On the palate, it's velvety smooth with abundant ripe fruit notes of currants, plums, and blueberries. On the cheeks, it reveals notes of spice, licorice, and stewed cherries. The finish is long and very balanced!
