A classic modern wine from Valdemar

In many ways, this is the most classic wine in this series. In Rioja, it was decided that international grapes may be used, but without naming them—in other words, experimental grapes. This makes this wine classic, yet also a bit experimental and modern. And that's what you can expect from Valdemar. The company was founded in 1989 and has been continuously modernizing its wines ever since. The grapes are harvested late and at peak ripeness, and come from a single, exceptionally good parcel of the company's own vineyards in the Valle de Ocon. The powerful Conde Valdemar Edición Limitada Rioja from Spain is a cuvée made from the Maturana Tinto, Graciano, and Tempranillo grape varieties. After harvest, the grapes quickly reach the press room. Here, they are sorted and carefully cracked. Fermentation then takes place in large barrels at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by 14 months of aging in new French oak.

The barrel-aged Conde Valdemar Edición Limitada Rioja from the La Rioja wine region has a dense ruby red color in the glass. The initial aroma of the Conde Valdemar Edición Limitada Rioja presents nuances of blackcurrant, blackberry, and blueberry. The fruity notes of the bouquet are accompanied by notes from the barrel's development and even more fruity-balsamic nuances. A powerful, broad, and full-bodied palate with delicious black fruit, pepperiness, currants, rosemary, and abundant depth and structure. Delicious now, but this Inspiracion Valdemar Edicion Limitada can certainly improve with five to eight years. It pairs wonderfully with cassoulet with duck, Iberian ham, and aged and mature cheeses.
