The 2020 vintage in Rioja received an excellent rating of 93 points. The wines from this year are currently still youthful and tannic, and will develop slowly over time.
This Gaudium is the king's wine and the flagship of Marques de Caceres. Aged for fifteen months in 100% new oak barriques. Very powerful and full-bodied, deep and intense, meaty, spicy, sultry, forest fruit, wild strawberries, soft, black pepper, enormous length and depth. Notes of blackcurrant, powerful yet soft tannins. Beautiful use of oak. And that's precisely what makes this wine so impressive. There are many different, robust flavors to discover, yet nothing overpowers.
The origins of the Marques de Caceres winery
Bodegas Marqués de Cáceres was founded in 1970 by Enriques Forner, in collaboration with French winemaker Emile Peynaud, in Cenicero, in the famous Rioja Alta wine region. Marqués de Cáceres is the most famous quality wine brand in Spain and the most renowned Rioja brand worldwide! Enriques Forner's daughter, Cristina, has since taken over the family business. For Marqués de Cáceres, Gaudium is a truly iconic wine. It's considered one of the house's special gems, a wine crafted according to the very latest techniques. A wine that shines through its exceptional quality. Its character differs from classic Riojas, thanks to the use of exceptionally ripe grapes and 100% new oak barrels. The wine is made from 95 percent Tempranillo, supplemented with a small amount of Graciano (five percent). Graciano provides some additional acidity and tannins. Depending on the vintage, it is aged for sixteen to twenty months in exclusively new, finest French oak barrels. After bottling, the wine is aged in the bottle for at least two years before release. It is then ready to drink, but also lends itself to ageing.Product details
