"You have to believe in it," were the words of the Mezzacorona winemakers when they took over the vineyards and winery from Feudo Arancio in 2001. Everything was in very poor condition, yet the winemakers were certain: this would produce beautiful wines. The vineyards located on the southern coast were all uprooted and replanted with an irrigation system. The vineyards flourished very quickly, because the old soils provided the vines with abundant nourishment. Besides renovating the vineyards, a completely new winery was also built. The latest technology is present to produce the finest wines with the highest precision. But the Feudo Arancio winery continues to cherish the old traditions, and this red Nero d'Avola is also made according to these traditions. And now, more than twenty years later, we can safely say that all the work has more than paid off.

The trophy cabinet is full at Feudo Arancio

Over the years, Feudo Arancio has received numerous international wine awards, but the Nero d'Avola in particular. He won gold medals at the Berliner Wein Trophy and Mundus Vini, among others. We find this not surprising, considering the full-bodied and powerful wine, where the grapes are clearly distinguishable. The vineyards for this Nero d'Avola are located in the province of Sambuca di Sicilia, in the province of Agrigento, where rich, mature, and structured Nero d'Avola is produced. Here, the grapes thrive, thanks in part to the sunshine and the natural cooling breeze. The soil, composed primarily of clay, provides the bunches with everything they need.

Wood aging for the Feudo Arancio Nero d'Avola

After the harvest, which always begins very early in the morning, the Nero d'Avola bunches at Feudo Arancio are rigorously sorted. Only the finest are used in this red wine, guaranteeing its purity. After pressing, this red wine is aged for a full six months in French barrels. This important period allows it to acquire the finest nuances from the oak barrels. The result is also noticeable in the aroma, which offers impressions of berries, wild strawberries, and pomegranate, along with spices and vanilla. On the palate, this Feudo Arancio Nero d'Avola is velvety with a rich, black fruit attack. On the palate, some herbs and spices, along with a touch of cassis fruit, are present. The finish is warm and very smooth, making it a very enjoyable drink.
