Long-term wood aging for Riserva Nero D'Avola
On the coast of Sicily lie the vineyards of the Feudo Arancio winery. Over the years, they have grown into one of the country's leading wineries. In 2001, it was acquired by Mezzacorona and completely modernized. It is designed entirely in accordance with Sicilian traditions and with great respect for nature. Today, the latest and most modern techniques are used to vinify wine as effectively as possible. The team is young and dynamic, working with great passion and dedication in the winery. Where the winery was in need of renovation, the soil proved to be excellent. Therefore, they are still able to use old vines. The grapes are planted in a hillside vineyard with loose soil rich in tuff, which favors the aging process. The grapes are harvested in early September and taken directly to the winery. Here, the grapes are destemmed, and fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature between 24 and 26 degrees Celsius. The wine then matures on the lees for approximately 10 days. Malolactic fermentation then continues for another six months in steel vats. Once this is complete, the wine is aged for a further 12 months in French oak barriques. Finally, the wine is aged in the bottle for another six months before being enjoyed. The smell and taste of Feudo Arancio Riserva Nero D'Avola
The final result requires some patience, but the long wait is more than worth it. The Riserva Nero D'Avola emerges in the glass with a dark ruby red color. If you look closely, you can see the purple hues dancing in the glass. The aroma is characteristic, with aromas of black fruit complemented by notes of chocolate and leather. The latter is thanks to the wine's long oak aging. On the palate, it is a supple wine with clear structure and elegant tannins. It finishes with a long finish.Product details
