Vintage Report
The 2020 vintage for dry wines from Portugal is considered excellent, with a score of 92 points. The wines from this year display a powerful and youthful character with significant aging potential.
This beautiful red wine is made by the Casa Agrícola Águia de Moura winery. The winery is located in the Douro region, where the mountains and the Douro River influence the vineyards. Winemaker Francisco Baptista has invested heavily in recent years, including the vineyards and modern winemaking techniques. All this has resulted in even higher quality and even purer wines. Through collaboration with the Wines & Winemakers by Saven cooperative, the winery's knowledge and experience in Portuguese viticulture have been further expanded.
Wood aging for the red Andreza Reserva Douro Red
For this red wine, Tinta Roriz grapes are grown on very old vines. The vines are over sixty years old and produce a top-notch harvest. Plenty of sunshine allows the bunches to ripen quickly and evenly, while the fresh breeze from the Douro River provides ample freshness. The mountains surrounding the vineyards naturally protect the bunches from the elements. At ideal ripeness, all bunches are harvested by hand and transported in small crates to Casa Agrícola Águia de Moura. There, they are gently pressed, and this red wine is aged in oak for a full twelve months.Full and very powerful this red Andreza Reserva Douro wine
New French oak barrels are used, giving this wine even more influence from the oak. We can safely say that this is a unique glass of wine at this price point. After all, you won't easily find such a wine for under ten euros. On the nose, this Andreza Reserva Douro has strong hints of black fruit, but also nuances of violets, balsamic vinegar, and charcoal. The palate is complex and very full, wonderfully creamy and rich with aromas of berries, roses, chocolate, coffee, and balsamic vinegar. The finish is very long and intense with delicate yet distinct fruit aromas.Product details
