A fruity and slightly spicy red wine from Italy. This Viticcio Ferraio Rosso, with its pleasant and refreshing notes, is perfect for any occasion. It has a good body and a subtly long finish, made from young Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon vines.
The vineyards of Viticcio
In the small town of Greve in Chianti, we find the Viticcio estate. The winery began producing wine in 1964 with the aim of capturing the essence of this specific terroir. The vineyards are situated on the captivating hillsides, enjoying the perfect climate. Today, the Biba family is at the helm and pursuing this ambitious goal. The estate now spans approximately 66 hectares of vineyards, spread across the Chianti Classico and Maremma regions, where various varieties are grown, both indigenous and international, such as Sangiovese, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malvasia, Trebbiano, Canaiolo, Cabernet Franc, and Vermentino. Each grape is subjected to a double selection in the vineyard, and each varietal is vinified separately.Manual harvest for Viticcio Ferraio Rosso
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand during the first week of September. During harvesting, perfect ripeness is monitored. The juice then undergoes alcoholic fermentation and maceration in stainless steel tanks for 15 to 20 days at 26 to 30 degrees Celsius. Malolactic fermentation also takes place in stainless steel. Finally, the wine is aged in barriques and Slavonian oak barrels for 12 months. In the glass, it displays a deep and intense ruby red color. The nose reveals notes of red fruit and undergrowth, enhanced by subtle nuances of sweet spices. On the palate, it is full, rounded, and broad, with a fluid yet characterful finish. It finishes with a sufficiently long aftertaste. Perfect with red meat and game, but also with aged goat cheeses.Product details
