The vinification process of Lopez Vasco Viejo Blend de Uvas Tintas

José Gregorio López Rivas left Spain for Argentina in 1886 during the phylloxera crisis in Europe, bringing his family together. In 1898, the López brothers rented land in Maipu to grow grapes and make their own wine, marking the beginning of Bodegas López. The first bottles were sold in 1927, and exports began in 1930, making Bodegas López one of the first Argentine wineries. The brothers quickly created their own unique style, which became popular. This led to increased demand, and the vineyards and cellar were expanded. Bodegas López now has over 1,100 hectares of vineyards, some dating back to 1915, and typically ages its wine in 440 French oak barrels or by aging bottles, some over 85 years old. This is the secret weapon behind Bodegas López's unique style. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand at peak ripeness. To ensure a high-quality wine, the grapes are rigorously selected in the winery. A classic vinification method is used in the winery. Initially, a short maceration takes place in stainless steel tanks, with the temperature carefully controlled. Fermentation then takes place. After a few months of rest, the wine is filtered and bottled.

What does the Lopez Vasco Viejo Blend de Uvas Tintas taste like?

The wine has an intense bouquet of beautiful fruity aromas of black cherries, berries, and subtle spice notes. On the palate, it's a full-bodied red wine. Deliciously round and soft, with a lovely balance of acidity and tannin. The finish reveals fruity notes and is long and pleasant.
