From vineyard to bottle

The origin, grapes and craftsmanship behind this wine.

Nestled among the enchanting landscapes of the Valle de Uco in Mendoza lies the iconic Salentein winery. In 1997, Meindert Pon saw a golden opportunity to turn his passion for wine into his life's work. When offered a vineyard in this fertile paradise, he didn't hesitate. The result? Salentein has since become synonymous with some of the most stunning wines Mendoza has to offer. Although Meindert is no longer with us, his philosophical vision of winemaking, respect for the local community, and love of nature remain at the heart of Salentein.

With vineyards rich in history and populated by old vines, Salentein has a natural advantage. Situated at an altitude of 1200 meters, these vineyards enjoy the ideal balance of sun-drenched days and refreshing nights. It is precisely these old vines that give Salentein wines their characteristic depth and complexity. The carefully selected Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for Salentein Barrel Cabernet Sauvignon are lovingly harvested by hand, with only the finest fruit chosen. After rigorous post-harvest selection, this wine undergoes masterful vinification, followed by a year of aging in French oak barrels, adding even more depth and refinement.

As soon as you pour a glass of this beautiful red wine, you're treated to a visual spectacle of rich, deep, almost mesmerizing purple hues. Your nose is then treated to enticing aromas of spicy pepper, juicy blackcurrant, and a hint of vanilla, accented by subtle hints of cedarwood. Every sip is a harmonious interplay of flavors—from juicy cherry and cassis to spicy notes and vanilla. Its silky tannins and elegant finish complete the picture. Imagine: a crackling fire, a captivating book, and a glass of this enchanting Salentein Barrel Cabernet Sauvignon. The pinnacle of perfection!

Vintage 2024
