Alois Lageder Mimuèt Pinot Noir 2023 is an elegant, biodynamic Pinot Noir from Alto Adige, crafted with the precision for which this progressive family estate is known. Mimuèt means “to my taste” in Ladin, a fitting name for a wine defined by freshness, refinement, and tension. Through cool vineyard sites, fermentation with wild yeasts, and maturation in various vessels, this Pinot Noir achieves a light, silky, and spicy style with remarkable energy.
The grapes are sourced from various locations in Alto Adige, a mountainous wine region in Northern Italy.
Location / Origin: The Pinot Noir comes from Appiano, Cortaccia, and Pochi, three origins within Alto Adige where altitude and temperature fluctuations contribute to freshness and aromatic precision.
Altitude: The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 370–520 meters. This position helps the Pinot Noir ripen slowly and maintain its elegant, fresh character.
Soil: The soil consists of glacial deposits and gravel, with significant limestone and loam in the topsoil. This provides drainage, tension, and a refined structure to the wine.
Vineyard & Harvest: The vines are 6–44 years old. This variation provides a combination of lively fruit expression from younger vines and greater depth from older ones.
Vineyard management: The wine is farmed biodynamically and is Demeter certified, which aligns with Alois Lageder's broad focus on soil health, biodiversity, and healthy vineyards.
The vinification is aimed at a Pinot Noir with freshness, precision, and refined tannins.
Fermentation: The wine ferments using wild yeasts. This gives the wine a more unique, artisanal expression and allows the origin to speak more clearly.
Whole bunches: The entire grape is used, including the stems. This adds extra freshness, tension, and a subtle spicy structure to the Pinot Noir.
Maturation: The wine ages for approximately 12 months partly in stainless steel tanks, partly in large wooden vats, and partly in concrete vats. Stainless steel preserves the fruit, wood provides extra roundness, and concrete helps the wine retain its fine, pure structure.
Alcohol percentage: With 11.5% alcohol, this Pinot Noir remains light-footed and elegant, which suits the fresh, refined style Alois Lageder strives for.
This red wine is made entirely from Pinot Noir, also known as Pinot Nero in Alto Adige.
Pinot Noir – Alto Adige: Pinot Noir gives this wine its garnet-red color, fine spiciness, red fruit, and silky structure. In the cooler parts of Alto Adige, the grape develops into a fresh, elegant, and light-footed form.
