Vintage Report
The 2019 vintage in Argentina received an outstanding 95-point rating from Robert Parker. The wines from this year are very approachable and will mature early.
A Burgundian grape originally from Argentina. The winemaker at Bodega Salentein lets quality prevail with Salentein Single Vineyard Pinot Noir. You can taste the years of experience; the winery has been in business for almost three decades. Mijndert Pon, the Dutch entrepreneur, founded the winery in 1992. He chose an estate in Valle de Uco with over 2,000 hectares! Just under half of this is planted. Pinot Noir produces surprisingly good wines in this region. Therefore, we highly recommend this Salentein Single Vineyard Pinot Noir.
The Single Vineyard vineyard
The Pinot Noir grapes are grown in just one vineyard. This Single Vineyard is called San Pablo and is situated, on average, much higher than Bodega Salentein's "regular" vineyards. The field where the Pinot Noir grapes grow is situated at an altitude of 1,400 meters. The vines were only planted in 2000, but they are already producing exceptionally good wines. There is ample space between the vines, so the roots don't have to dig deep for the necessary nutrients. All this contributes to the quality of Salentein Single Vineyard Pinot Noir. The aroma and taste of Salentein Single Vineyard Pinot Noir
Harvested by hand, vinification takes place in 7,000-liter wooden barrels. This gives Salentein Single Vineyard Pinot Noir a rich aroma. The juice is then aged in new French oak barrels until it is deemed good enough by the winemaker at Bodega Salentein, but this usually takes around 10 months. The result is overwhelming. Your nose is teased by complex notes of strawberry and raspberry, but also a touch of spice. Time for a sip of Salentein Single Vineyard Pinot Noir. Surprisingly powerful, yet retaining the typical Pinot Noir flavors: wild strawberries and red berries. Warm cherries, but also herbs and a hint of balsamic vinegar.Product details
