The Languedoc region achieved an excellent score of 94 points in the Robert Parker Vintage Chart for the 2023 vintage. This indicates an exceptionally good year that has produced very high-quality wines.

The Cabernet Sauvignon grape has naturally earned its status and prestige in Bordeaux, but it also thrives in the Pays d'Oc. It thrives in a colder climate, which is why the Croix d'Or family planted its vines at the highest elevations. Due to the vineyard's elevated location, the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes receive both abundant sunshine and a pleasant coolness. The wind blowing across the mountains cools the vines during the day, and at night, when temperatures drop rapidly, the grapes are also kept cool. All of this contributes to the beautiful juice of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape.

The harvest of the Croix d'Or Cabernet Sauvignon

The Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard is one of Croix d'Or's oldest, and its mature vines produce a harvest known as sublime. Their deep roots absorb an incredible amount of nutrients from the rich soil. This results in perfect juice, allowing Croix d'Or to produce an unaged Cabernet Sauvignon. At peak ripeness, the grapes are harvested mechanically and then sorted on sorting tables. Only the finest bunches make it into the bottle, and we can taste that.

What does the Croix d'Or Cabernet Sauvignon taste like?

As soon as the cap is opened, we smell a ripe aroma of fresh red and black fruit, with berries prominently present. Once in the glass, with a vigorous swirl, we also detect hints of cedar and some light paprika notes. The palate is both full and smooth, with a beautiful elegance of red and black fruit and a slight hint of cocoa. On the palate and in the finish, a lovely presence of cherries and blackberries with a hint of toffee. This red wine is often served in fine restaurants, and for good reason. A wine for everyone and also pairs well with dishes such as steak, pork tenderloin, and stews.
