The 2023 vintage in the Languedoc received an excellent rating of 94 points in the Robert Parker Vintage Chart. This indicates an exceptionally high-quality year for the region.
La Villette Merlot is the smoothest red wine from this magnificent estate. Thanks to the oak aging, the wine retains plenty of body without losing the smoothness of the Merlot. The deep, dark red color suggests a promising future. The aroma reveals numerous aromas of black fruit, jam, and hints of toasted oak and vanilla. The palate is velvety smooth with pleasant nuances of ripe black fruit combined with spicy notes, a touch of chocolate, and vanilla. The finish is phenomenally smooth. A perfect Merlot!

We couldn't imagine life without La Villette Winery in our selection. This red La Villette Merlot is no exception. The name La Villette has a fascinating history. La Villette is an old Parisian neighborhood from which all of Paris was once supplied with wine and food. This was done by boat or horse-drawn carriage. The label of the white wine bottle also refers to this. The river the boats with supplies sailed is depicted on the label. La Villette wines are made using the Vin de France label. The La Villette Merlot vineyards are located in the Nîmes region, near Béziers on the eastern side of the Aude Valley. The vines grow on soils with gravel in the valley and clay and limestone on the slopes. The plants are 10 to 15 years old and produce a magnificent harvest thanks to the perfect climate. Plenty of afternoon sunshine ensures ripe Merlot grapes, which are refreshed by the cool breeze. This creates the perfect balance between warmth and coolness, ensuring La Villette's winemakers a top-notch harvest. La Villette Merlot is aged for 6 to 9 months in French and American oak barrels.
