Vintage Report

The 2021 vintage in the Languedoc is rated with an excellent score of 92 points. The wines from this year are known for being early maturing and very approachable for immediate consumption.
Thanks to Domaine Paul Mas, the Languedoc region is back in vogue among wine lovers. He has breathed new life into this region with his fashionable wines. And this Le Pinot Noir is a prime example. The Pinot Noir grapes come from various vineyards in the Languedoc. The vines are planted at an altitude of 200 to 250 meters, where they enjoy a fresh breeze. They are deeply rooted in clay and limestone soil and have an average age of 12 to 22 years. And thanks to years of expertise, the L'Artisan series offers wines with a pleasant character.

The quality vineyards for L'Artisan

Today, Paul Mas heads the estate, which was founded in 1892 by Jean-Claude Mas. It all began with 35 hectares of vineyards, where Jean-Claude embarked on his first adventure. His successor, Paul Mas, not only renamed the estate but also expanded the winery to a whopping 120 hectares of vineyards. Quality is always paramount, and thanks to years of expertise, this winery knows exactly what its grapes need. The Pinot Noir grapes are harvested at night. The cool nighttime temperature preserves the fruit flavors within the grapes. The grapes are then transported to the winery for a cold maceration at a temperature of 10 degrees Celsius. For this process, the grapes are rigorously selected to ensure that only the very best are used in the final juice. After the cold maceration, fermentation takes place at a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. Finally, 30 percent of the wine is aged for four months in French oak barrels.

The fruity notes of L'Artisan Le Pinot Noir

The L'Artisan Le Pinot Noir presents itself with a bright red color in the glass. The aromas immediately envelop you. Cherries, berries, strawberries, and raspberries combine to create a ripe, fruity aroma. The taste is equally delicious. Pleasant, round, and generous with subtle notes of spice. A beautiful glass from Paul Mas!
