Solara Red is a bright, light, and fruity red wine from Romania, with a touch of Beaujolais in its style. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes are grown entirely organically and complement each other perfectly. The result is a juicy, uncomplicated red wine.

The unique wines of the Calusari winery

Just outside Timisoara in western Romania lies the Calusari Winery, which has been transformed since the early 2000s by Philip Cox and his Romanian wife Elvira. With their 700-hectare estate, they are now one of the largest producers in the country and offer a vast array of wines. What makes the winery unique is their ability to produce excellent quality wines at a competitive price. By having extensive vineyards in an area with rich terroir and using modern production methods, they can cultivate both indigenous and international varietals with great success. The Solara Red vinification process focuses on minimalism and natural expression. The whole bunches of grapes are left to mature naturally in the winery for three weeks, and the wine is bottled without filtration, fining, or the addition of sulfur. This results in a light red with flavors of strawberry, bubblegum, and ripe red cherries, paired with refreshing acidity.
