The 2022 vintage in this region achieved scores of up to 95 points, indicating excellent, though sometimes uneven, quality. It resulted in concentrated and highly aromatic wines.

With this Saignee Pinot Noir rosé, August Kesseler demonstrates that a fine rosé can be made with a certain degree of ripeness and age. This doesn't apply to all rosés, but it does apply to those made from high-quality vintages. This vibrant rosé is made from the finest grapes from the finest vineyards.

The high quality of Kesseler

August Kesseler took over his parents' winery at a very young age. The more than 30 hectares of vineyards are located in the Rheingau. As early as the 1980s, his goal was to restore the Rheingau wine region around Assmannshausen to its former glory. The wines are known for their balance and excellent aging potential. The two-story wine cellar, dating back to 1792, is carved out of the rock and offers ideal conditions for winemaking year-round. Kesseler strives to produce cool, mineral wines. Quality is continuously monitored during production, with regular tastings taking place. If the quality is not up to par, the bottles will not bear the August Kesseler label.

The vinification of August Kesseler Pinot Noir Rosé

The Pinot Noir grapes come from the steep slopes of Lorch, Rüdesheim, and Assmannshausen. The grapes are harvested with great care to ensure the highest quality. It is vinified using the "saignee" method. In other words, the liquid that forms in the harvesting containers immediately after harvest and "bleeds" from the grapes is transformed into wine. This is usually very concentrated and intense. Finally, the wine is aged for several months in stainless steel tanks. This rosé has a salmon-pink color in the glass with an intense nose of ripe blackberries and raspberry jam. The cherries and plums often characteristic of Pinot Noir are also present. As expected, the flavor is concentrated, highly aromatic, juicy, and elegant.
