Gérard Bertrand Papilou Pétillant Naturel Rosé

Papilou is a playful and organic pétillant naturel from Gérard Bertrand, produced according to the méthode ancestrale. This lightly sparkling rosé comes from the south of France and is completely vegan, unfiltered, and without added sulphites. With Papilou, Bertrand demonstrates that natural wine is not only pure but also festive and easy to drink.

Vineyards and region – Mediterranean freshness with biodynamic balance

The grapes are grown on organically certified plots in the Languedoc. The soils consist of limestone and clay, benefiting from the cooling effect of the Tramontane wind. The combination of sun, wind, and biodynamic cultivation produces healthy grapes with abundant aroma and fresh acidity, ideal for a wine with a spontaneous sparkling character.

Vinification and maturation – ancestral method without additives

Papilou is made using the ancestral method: the wine partially ferments in tanks and is then bottled while fermenting. This creates a natural mousse without the addition of sugar or yeast. The wine is unfiltered, undegorged, and contains no added sulfites, resulting in a lively and pure character.

Grape composition

This rosé is made from Grenache and Cinsault, two grapes that provide a fine balance between fruit, freshness and elegance.

Tasting notes

The aroma opens with notes of strawberry, red apple, and a hint of citrus. On the palate, Papilou is lightly sparkling, juicy, and fruity, with a soft mousse and a dry, refreshing finish.

Serving suggestions

Perfect as an aperitif, with a summer picnic, or with light tapas. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees Celsius.
