Vintage Report

The 2021 vintage for white wines from Trentino-Alto Adige achieved an excellent score of 94 points in the Robert Parker Vintage Chart. These wines offer exceptional quality and are currently perfectly drinkable.
This wine is a cross between Riesling and Pinot Blanc, and owes its name to its unique geographical location within the vineyards. Fórra means gorge or narrow valley in Italian. The vineyard at the Paradeis site extends near a ravine, creating a unique climate.

The beginning of the Alois Lageder winery

The history of the Alois Lageder winery dates back to 1823, when Johann Lageder began trading wine in Bolzano. His successors began pressing their own wine in 1855 and purchased their own vineyards. The winery is surrounded by excellent locations where classic South Tyrolean grape varieties yield outstanding results. In the late 1970s, the current Alois Lageder, with the support of his brother-in-law and cellar master, Luis von Dellemann, took the offensive and completely rebuilt the winery. He is convinced that his homeland holds significant untapped potential and follows a strict quality policy. He acquires new locations and relies on innovative methods in the vineyard and cellar. Manzoni Bianco is a grape variety primarily found in northern Italy, but it has German roots as a cross between Riesling and Pinot Blanc. It is, however, bred in Italy. These are young vines that grow at over 300 meters above sea level at the foot of the Dolomites. The grapes are harvested very early and rigorously selected in the cellar. Only the best grapes are good enough. The juice is left in contact with the skins in stainless steel tanks for about 10 days. After fermentation, the wine is aged on the lees in large barrels for nine months.

The powerful body of Fórra Manzoni Bianco Dolomiti

In the glass, it shines with a golden yellow color and releases fruity aromas of quince, mirabelle plums, and pear, combined with a delicate spice. On the palate, the Fórra reveals its powerful body, rounded out by fresh nuances. A delicious, large wine that pairs perfectly with fish or shellfish dishes.
