The origin, grapes and craftsmanship behind this wine.

Sancerre. It's considered one of the kings of wines. A Sancerre wine brings a broad smile to many a wine lover's face. The wine region that calls itself Sancerre isn't very large. However, the Claude Riffault estate has access to a whopping 13.5 hectares in this unique wine region. The vast majority is planted with Sauvignon Blanc. Not only is it the queen of Sancerre, but it plays a particularly important role throughout the Loire Valley.

The foundation for Claude Riffault's enormous success is Sauvignon Blanc. Les Chasseignes is its own appellation within the Sancerre region. Situated at an impressive 270 meters of altitude, it enjoys abundant afternoon sunshine. Due to the exceptionally high lime content of the soil, the flavor is dominated by minerals. Claude Riffault Sancerre Les Chasseignes is vinified in both stainless steel (70%) and wooden barrels (30%). This white Sancerre matures for approximately eight months, after which it is bottled. Just in time for the summer, when Claude Riffault Sancerre Les Chasseignes is at its best.
