This Moutard Brut is made entirely from Pinot Noir grapes grown on 10- to 20-year-old vines from the Côte des Bar region. It erupts golden yellow in the glass and ages for at least three years before release. This creates a particularly refined flavor and aroma. It is a powerful Champagne with a delicate and pleasant bubble.

The family business Moutard

Champagne house Moutard is a true family business that produces its Champagnes with great passion and dedication. Current owner, Francois Moutard, has been at the helm of the winery since the mid-1980s. The Pinot Noir grapes for this Moutard Brut come from vines in the Côtes des Bar region, where they are produced for several years. This region has a maritime and continental climate, meaning warm temperatures alternate with cool nights. This allows the Pinot Noir grapes to ripen and develop optimally. The warmth is particularly important for the Pinot Noir grape. Eighty-five percent of the area is planted with this grape, originally cultivated by monks.

A Moutard Brut with great finesse

Part of the soil dates back to the Kimmeridgian. This belt consists of a layer of chalk and marl millions of years old. Due to the specific soil, the wines are somewhat rounder in flavor, full of character, and more complex than other champagnes. After traditional fermentation, a second fermentation takes place in the bottle. This process develops the carbonation characteristic of champagne. The Moutard Brut is aged in the cave for at least three years before release. The result is a champagne with great finesse. The Moutard Brut has a refined, rich nose with notes of butter, almond, and brioche. It is lively and elegant with a pleasant mouthfeel. It has creamy textures and an elegant finish.
