Vintage Report
The 2023 vintage in Galicia received an excellent score of 92 points. The wines from this year are early-drinking and approachable.
Martin Codax, winemaker of this white Mara Martin Godello, Monterrei, earned his fame with the Albariño grape. But the house wants to showcase more of Spain and is launching a white wine made with the Godello grape from Monterrei. The Monterrei wine region is located in the Galician wine region, where the climate is very different from its home base. The mountains protect the grapes from heavy rainfall, allowing the Godello grapes to benefit more from dry periods. This is necessary, as this grape doesn't like wet feet.
The old vineyard of Mara Martin Godello in Monterrei
The old vineyard stands at an altitude of 300 meters, and the soil is rich in granite. All of this gives this white wine its own unique style, which is what makes it so enjoyable. At the ideal ripeness in the old vineyard, the grapes are harvested. This is no easy task, as everything is done by hand with the utmost precision. Only the finest Godello grapes are harvested in Monterrei, resulting in a pure and exceptionally clean juice. The smell and taste of the white Mara Martin Godello Monterrei
A very delicate wine made from the Godello grape, the aroma boasts beautiful notes of flowers, acacia, a hint of anise, and plenty of exotic fruit such as mango, banana, and white nectarine. A lovely mild flavor, juicy and vibrant, with plenty of exotic fruit, a touch of anise, and white nectarine. Swish this white wine around in your mouth, and even more profound flavors emerge, such as banana, mango, and a touch of spice. The finish is a powerful one, with a ripe aftertaste and soft, slightly tingling tannins. This white Mara Martin Godello Monterrei also pairs well with dishes like chicken salad and light fish dishes, but is especially delicious on the patio or as an aperitif.Product details
