A Californian gem with a renowned worldwide reputation. It excels particularly in two of California's signature grapes: Chardonnay and Zinfandel. This is largely due to the Bogle family's experience in California's vineyards: for over 100 years, they have mastered the beautiful vineyards in Lodi and Amador County.

The wines of Bogle Vineyards

The Bogle family's roots lie not in California, but in Tennessee, a state where the Civil War was at its height. Captain A.J. Bogle played a significant role in the Civil War but subsequently, along with his cousin Samuel, ended up in California. Together, they planted the first fruit trees, which ultimately formed the foundation of Bogle Vineyards.

For the first decades, the fruit trees kept the company afloat. Unfortunately, during the Great Depression of the 1930s, everything was uprooted, leaving the family with only a small plot of land. Until the fourth generation planted grapevines at the end of the 1960s. Warren Bogle saw the potential in the Bogle estate and planted classic grape varieties. Initially for resale, but starting in 1978, they began producing wines independently.

Bogle wines from California

Bogle Vinyards boomed from 1989 onward. By then, the next generation was eager to take over. Chris Bogle, along with his wife, Patty, took over the day-to-day management. He managed to grow the winery into a truly significant estate. By the mid-1990s, the winery owned a whopping 1,000 hectares, making it a true California winery. After Chris Bogle's death, Patty took matters into her own hands and, together with her three sons, established Bogle as a major player in the California wine industry.

Bogle's wines are incredibly distinctive, and thanks to their unique style, they're becoming increasingly sought-after. We only receive a limited number of bottles each year, so be quick to enjoy them. Bogle Zinfandel is remarkable, thanks in part to the age of the Zinfandel vines, which can be up to 80 years old! However, it's Chardonnay that truly dominates. Bogle Chardonnay routinely sells out every year. Their attention to the vineyards, their commitment to the people, and their dedication to the Bogle Chardonnay production process make this a wine that perfectly embodies the power of Californian wines.
