Borgogno's newest wine, and we can tell you something very special: this Derthona is the "White Barolo." For years, this Timorasso grape was no longer planted or available, but thankfully, the tradition has been revived. Characterized by power, structure, mineral complexity, and other aromatic qualities, it is a true gift. It is highly exclusive, as there are only 5,000 plants growing this white grape.
Elegant, classic Barolos from Borgogno
Borgogno stands for elegant, classic Barolos with a delicate flavor and a distinct terroir concept. Their strength lies in their long-standing adherence to classic and traditional winemaking methods. The adventure began in 1761 when Bartolomeo Borgogne founded the winery. Today, the winery is run by the Farinetti family, who purchased the estate in 2008. Since then, organic conversion has been implemented, but the philosophy remains the same. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand in early September. After pressing, this Derthona undergoes extensive oak aging. Initially, the Derthona is full-bodied and pleasant; notes of great interest and refinement, balance, power, finesse, and intensity emerge over time and after further refinement in the bottle. Aging, which is mandatory until September 1st of the following harvest year, accentuates the aromatic notes, minerality, and hydrocarbon content, key characteristics of the Timorasso varietal.Borgogno Derthona a "White Barolo"
The 2016 vintage is the first vintage to be offered for sale, making it a truly exclusive vintage. The aroma reveals notes of pear, peach, acacia blossoms, and hawthorn, as well as green herbs, vanilla, citrus, and a honey note typical of these wines. The palate is complex and full, perfectly drinkable after five years, but already a treat! On the palate, this Borgogno Derthona has a fresh, minerally attack, abundant nuances of apple, pear, lime, green herbs, vanilla, fresh honey, and a touch of white flowers. So many flavors make it a true connoisseur's wine.Product details
