A visit to this world-famous winery takes us to Lombardy, an Italian province in northern Italy. The very road there makes us fall in love with the winery. The rolling landscape has an idyllic effect on our mood. The founding of Ca del Bosco is also a fairytale experience. It all began in the 1960s, when Annamaria Clementi Zanella bought a small house (Ca del Bosco) on Mount Erbusco, in the Franciacorta region. In the early 1970s, a growing number of leading wines left the Ca del Bosco cellars. This was partly thanks to Maurizio Zanella, son of Annamaria Clementi. However, something happened in 1976, from which Ca del Bosco still reaps the benefits today.

The Italian champagne Franciacorta

Maurizio Zanello was inspired, while traveling through the Champagne region, to develop a sparkling wine. However, it had to be a world-class sparkling wine, almost even better than Champagne. In 1976, this wine was released: the Franciacorta Ca del Bosco. Thanks in part to the ideal conditions in the Franciacorta region, this sparkling wine has become a true icon. Ca del Bosco's hard work was rewarded with a DOC classification in 1995. All this combined has made Franciacorta even more popular than Champagne. Very little is exported from Lombardy. Fortunately, Ca del Bosco is one of the few wineries that does export its beautiful Franciacorta wines to the Netherlands.

The best wines from Ca del Bosco

Ca del Bosco boasts several top wines, each more spectacular than the last. The crown jewel is perhaps the Franciacorta Ca del Bosco Annamaria Clementi, named after the founder of this phenomenal winery. It's a vintage Franciacorta and is only produced in exceptionally good years. Besides its sparkling Franciacorta wines, Ca del Bosco offers much more.
