The Castello di Neive Barbera d’Alba DOC is the classic expression of Barbera from the Langhe, focusing on freshness and pure fruit. What distinguishes Barbera d’Alba from other Piedmontese wines? Barbera is known for its deep color, lively acidity, and immediate accessibility, without the pronounced tannin structure of Nebbiolo. This wine shows how Barbera in Neive finds a balance between ripe fruit and fresh tension.

The wine is made entirely from Barbera and falls under the Barbera d’Alba DOC.

The vineyards are located in the hilly landscape around Neive, within the Barbera d’Alba appellation area.

  • Barbera d’Alba DOC: appellation around Alba in Piedmont.

  • Hilly location: supports optimal ripening and concentration.

  • Calcareous marl soils: provide structure and retain freshness.

This combination results in Barbera with ripe fruit expression and lively acidity.

Barbera – Langhe, Piedmont
Barbera is a grape with deep color and high natural acidity, resulting in wines with energy and drinkability.

Vinification takes place with controlled fermentation to optimally extract fruit and color. Maturation is typically shorter than with the Superiore variant, preserving the fresh character of the grape and making the wine accessible sooner.

In the glass, this Barbera d’Alba shows an intense ruby red color. Typical aromas include red and dark fruit, with a fresh, lively structure. The acidity provides tension and balance, while the tannins remain softer than in Nebbiolo.

Serve around 16–18 °C to best bring out the fruit and freshness.

Castello di Neive is located in the historic village of Neive in the Langhe. The estate manages renowned crus such as Santo Stefano and Gallina for Barbaresco and also produces classic Piedmontese wines such as Barbera d’Alba. By combining tradition and modern winemaking techniques, the winery preserves the identity of its terroirs and demonstrates the versatility of Piedmont.
