Château Ausone, nestled on the southern slopes of Saint-Émilion, is one of Bordeaux's most prestigious wineries. With a history dating back to Roman times and a reputation for exceptional wines, Château Ausone embodies the perfect symbiosis of tradition and craftsmanship.

History and Dedication

The name Château Ausone honors the Roman poet Decimius Magnus Ausonius (310–395 AD), who is said to have owned vineyards in the region. Over the centuries, the estate has been owned by just three families, which has contributed to its continuity and consistency of quality. Since 1997, the château has been run by Alain Vauthier and his daughter Pauline, who continue the tradition with passion and expertise.

Vineyard and Terroir

The Château Ausone vineyard covers just 7 hectares and is situated in a unique location with soil rich in clay and limestone. This blend gives the wines their characteristic minerality and finesse. The vineyard is planted with 55% Cabernet Franc and 45% Merlot, with vines that average 50 years old. The limited size of the vineyard allows for the utmost precision and care, resulting in wines of exceptional quality.

Characteristics of the Wines

Château Ausone's wines are known for their complexity, elegance, and impressive aging potential. They offer a harmonious balance of ripe fruit, minerality, and refined tannins. The unique terroir and the winemakers' expertise create a wine experience that is both powerful and delicate, with aromas of blackcurrant, violet, and subtle oak notes.

Why Choose Château Ausone?

Choosing Château Ausone means choosing a wine with a rich history and an unparalleled reputation. The limited production and dedication to quality make every bottle a rare and precious experience. Whether for a special occasion or as an investment, Château Ausone offers a unique expression of the Saint-Émilion terroir.
