The Nore Grenache Rosé is a very light-coloured rosé for summer moments when you want to serve something dry, refined, and immediately enjoyable. The character of this wine is strongly linked to its origin, as the Grenache comes from the very steep southern flank of the Pic de Nore in the Montagne Noire. This location immediately gives this rosé its own story, between Carcassonne, rugged slopes, and the transition of two climate zones.

Vineyards and region

The origin of this rosé is in a prominent location in Southern France, where relief and air currents greatly influence the vineyards.

  • Location / Origin: The Grenache for this wine grows on the very steep southern flank of the Pic de Nore, northwest of Carcassonne, in the Montagne Noire. This places the wine within the broader Pays d'Oc of Languedoc, but on a much more specific and pronounced hillside location.
  • Altitude & relief: At 1211 m, the Pic de Nore is the highest point of the Montagne Noire. The vines are located on steep slopes around this mountain, which immediately gives the vineyards a pronounced relief.
  • Climate & influences: The Montagne Noire protects the area between Carcassonne and Narbonne from cooler northern winds. At the same time, this mountain range forms the dividing line between Atlantic and Mediterranean influences, creating a clear transitional climate.
  • Vineyard environment: On the southern flank, the vines grow among the garrigue, the typical scrubland of this region. This underlines the dry, sunny, and stony character of this origin.

Vinification and aging

The style here is aimed at finesse, freshness, and a pure, light rosé expression.

  • Fermentation: At Château Jouclary, gentle pressing and controlled fermentation temperatures are used. This approach helps to preserve finesse and aromatic purity, perfectly matching the slender and delicate style of this rosé.

Grape composition

This wine is built entirely on one grape, which keeps its style crisp and recognizable.

  • Grenache Noir – Pays d’Oc: Grenache Noir forms the complete basis here and gives the wine its light colour, soft structure, and refined, dry style.

Tasting notes and serving suggestions

Very light in colour in the glass. On the palate, this rosé is dry, delicate, and smooth, with a slender, summery style that is best enjoyed well chilled. The finish remains refined and refreshing, exactly what you want in an elegant terrace rosé.

  • Serving temperature: 7–8 °C works best here, as this range keeps the refined, dry style crisp and lively.
  • Dishes: A seafood platter, a light summer lunch, or a sun-drenched terrace without an elaborate meal pair very naturally with this wine.

More information about Château Jouclary

Château Jouclary overlooks the medieval city of Carcassonne and is situated on the first foothills of the Montagne Noire. The estate is today a 60-hectare family business, built up by Robert Gianesini from 1969 and further expanded when his son Pascal joined in 1990. This combination of family continuity, Cabardès origin, and work at both AOP and IGP levels gives the house a broad, distinct South French signature.
