In 1934, Clarence Dillon, an American financier, visited Bordeaux. Seduced by the charm of Château Haut-Brion, he also recognized the unique opportunity this legendary estate represented. He had just discovered a pure jewel that only wanted to shine. This estate had shone for centuries before these troubled times. Mr. Clarence Dillon acquired it in 1935. This marked the beginning of a long-standing family commitment and dedication to this estate and Bordeaux wines. Every improvement has always been dictated by a love of perfection. It is thanks to these improvements and innovations, as well as the men and women who implemented them, that Château Haut-Brion has been able to preserve its noble heritage.

The Clarendelle estate

In 1983, the Dillon family also purchased the adjacent estate, Château La Mission Haut-Brion. And since 2011, the family business has owned a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, Château Quintus. Domaine Clarence Dillon is therefore uniquely positioned to develop five superb red and white wines with an unparalleled reputation, as well as its second wines. All of Domaine Clarence Dillon's unique expertise, based on five centuries of history, is evident in each of its wine families.

The history of Clarendelle

In 2005, seventy years after Clarence Dillon's arrival in Bordeaux, his great-grandson, Prince Robert of Luxembourg, opened a new chapter in the Dillon family's history in Bordeaux by creating Clarence Dillon Wines, which includes Clarendelle wines. Clarence Dillon Wines manages the production and marketing of the first premium Bordeaux wine brand: "Clarendelle." This name, inspired by Clarence Dillon, is dedicated to continuing the legacy of excellence that this great man left to his family. Clarence Dillon Wines is also a merchant. By creating Clarendelle, Clarence Dillon Wines and Domaine Clarence Dillon aim to discover and enhance the enormous potential and expertise of this region and terroir. Bordeaux remains the benchmark for wine worldwide. With its exceptional terroir, remarkably qualified and passionate men and women, and expertise developed over centuries, all the conditions were necessary for the creation of a high-end Bordeaux wine brand.
