Near the center of Spain, in the vast region of La Mancha, we find the Condesa de Leganza winery. It's located in the medium-sized town of Quintanar de la Orden, about an hour and a half southeast of Madrid. Condesa de Leganza was once an old winery. However, it was the people behind Faustino Winery who, in the late 1990s, turned Condesa de Leganza into reality. And with great success, because for almost a quarter of a century, we've been able to enjoy the delicious wines of Condesa de Leganza.
The vineyards of Condesa de Leganza
In 1999, the vineyards were a bit neglected. Work was put into them. They were renovated and modernized, just like the winery. The 550 hectares of vineyards were situated in a beautiful hilly landscape. By devoting the necessary attention to the grapes, the quality increased dramatically. This great success prompted expansion, and the Condesa de Leganza winery now encompasses approximately 1,100 hectares. This has resulted in the continuous expansion of the wines.
The wines of Condesa de Leganza
Condesa de Leganza offers three different wines in the Netherlands: red, white, and rosé. Like the rosé, Condesa de Leganza's red wine is made from the undisputed number one grape on the Iberian Peninsula: Tempranillo. As the name suggests, it's full of temperament. A light peppery note and the necessary intensity give Condesa de Leganza Tempranillo that extra something. The white wine is made from another high-flyer from Spain: Verdejo. It became famous in the Rueda region in the 1980s but is now widespread throughout Spain.
