A beautiful South African winery with an interesting and impressive history, like so many other South African wineries. It began with the German couple Hans Otto Hoheisen and his wife Deli. In 1938, they purchased a magnificent estate with vineyards, situated in South Africa's most beautiful wine region: Stellenbosch. Out of love for his wife Deli, Hans Otto named the winery Delheim.
However, in the 1950s, the winery was taken over by the impressive Sperling family. Out of respect for the founders, they kept the winery's name, Delheim, intact. After the Sperling family took over the day-to-day management of Delheim, the winery flourished and is now one of Stellenbosch's finest wineries.
Delheim's South African wines
Delheim is located in the Stellenbosch wine region, an area that many wine lovers have fallen in love with. And that's not surprising; South Africa's finest wineries are found in this area. Delheim also has many well-known neighbors, such as Warwick Estate, L'Avenir Estate, and the impressive Remhoogte Estate. All of these wineries boast impressive reputations. Given their location, it's no wonder Delheim's wines are truly heavenly.
Delheim produces the finest wines from South Africa
Delheim has built an extensive wine collection. Besides the usual grape varieties, Delheim has also planted some unusual ones. These include Muscat, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, and even a Malbec. However, Delheim's strength lies in the grape varieties that have made South African wines world-famous: Chenin Blanc and Pinotage. These two varieties are emblematic of South African viticulture. Therefore, Delheim Chenin Blanc and Delheim Pinotage are two essential wines for your wine cellar.
An aged Chardonnay from Delheim
The Delheim winemakers' signature wine is undoubtedly the Delheim Chardonnay Sur Lie. A single sip of this South African white wine will send you to seventh heaven. A magnificent piece of craftsmanship, the envy of many other wineries. The Chardonnay grapes are sourced from the most beautifully situated vineyards in Stellenbosch, and thanks to expert production and aging on its own lees, the result is truly dazzling.
Why buy Delheim wines?
Delheim represents the towering quality of South African wines. True standouts where the tasting experience is paramount. Moreover, the craftsmanship, which has endured for over 70 years, has reached a new high. They know how to craft perfect wines, each time featuring a different grape variety. Consider the Delheim Sauvignon Blanc or the Delheim Shiraz, both wines that showcase each grape individually. The crowning jewel is undoubtedly the Delheim Grand Reserve Stellenbosch, a red wine inspired by French Bordeaux wines. This Delheim red wine is a balanced blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot and perfectly embodies the expansive price-quality ratio Delheim offers.
