Our quest for these impressive wines begins in the center of Limoux, at the Place de la République. A characteristic French square teeming with clichés. From the city center, it's less than a fifteen-minute drive to one of the region's most beautiful wineries: Domaine Begude. It's located just a few kilometers north of Limoux. The winery was founded in 2003 by Catharine and James Kinglake. After a hectic time in London, they decided to pursue their dream. They purchased the winery, which until then had been growing grapes for a cooperative. Domaine Begude is now a leading producer of Limoux wines.

The vineyards of Domaine Begude

With the purchase of Domaine Begude, the couple made several important choices. For example, they decided to produce only organic wines. This emphasizes the purity and authenticity of Domaine Begude wines. Furthermore, they planted only three grape varieties on their 29 hectares of vineyards: Chardonnay, Viognier, and Pinot Noir. The former, in particular, is a true celebrity, as the Chardonnay from Limoux boasts a delightful aroma and flavor.

The finest wines from Domaine Begude

Domaine Begude's flagship wine is undoubtedly the Chardonnay. The Domaine Begude Arcturus Chardonnay, in particular, is a white wine that's the envy of both friends and foes. It perfectly combines the strengths of the Chardonnay and the Limoux region, resulting in a rich palate and a creamy flavor. The Domaine Begude Pinot Noir is particularly special. James produces only a few thousand bottles of this wine annually. Each vintage routinely sells out thanks to the high quality of this Pinot Noir. So be quick.
