A unique winery from France. While many wineries have histories ranging from decades to centuries, Domaine Berthelemot has a short history. It may hold the record for "the fastest success." Domaine Berthelemot was only founded in 2006. It's a merger of two Burgundy estates, Jean Garaudet and Yves Darviot. This was made possible in part by the talented Brigitte Berthelemot, who, since its founding, has earned her the title of Queen of Burgundy.

The vineyards of Domaine Berthelemot

Domaine Berthelemot's main base is Beaune and Meursault. However, the winery has been expanding rapidly since its founding. Since 2012, it has also acquired several new vineyards in Puligny, Chassagne, and Meursault. Acquiring new vineyards is not done lightly: only the finest locations are considered for inclusion in Domaine Berthelemot. Despite being a young winery, quality is paramount.

The Domaine Berthelemot wines from Burgundy

Through the acquisition of several vineyards, Domaine Berthelemot has acquired a beloved reputation. The wines from the Meursault and Montrachet regions, in particular, are highly regarded. Unfortunately, Berthelemot production is exceptionally low: this is to maintain its sky-high quality. Because of this, we at perfectewijn.nl are only allowed to sell a small portion of our selection, simply because there's very little available. However, we do have the real cream of the crop, with the Domaine Berthelemot Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatieres as the highlight.

Why buy Domaine Berthelemot wine?

Besides the flagship Uitred Puligny Montrachet, Berthelemot also produces an excellent Chassagne Montrachet. Uniquely, these Chardonnay grapes also come from a premier cru vineyard, Abbaye de Morgeot. Our favorite wine from Domaine Berthelemot is definitely the Meursault. This 100% Chardonnay perfectly captures the power and character of the Meursault in a 75cl bottle.
