The Gascony wines from France

Domaine de Menard is no ordinary winery. Founded over a hundred years ago in the Cotes de Gascogne region, this winery boasts a wealth of experience. It was founded by a Swiss winemaker: Jean François Morel. In 1920, he began with just 10 hectares, in a region still relatively unknown in the wine world. When his daughter and son-in-law took over the vineyards in 1960, the acreage steadily grew. Their daughter, Elisabeth, the founder's granddaughter, along with her husband and brother, developed Domaine de Menard into a leading winery that draws wine drinkers in.

Thanks to the current generation, Elisabeth and her husband Henry, the winery now encompasses an impressive 190 hectares of vineyards. A gigantic amount, even by French standards. In 2012, the winery was completely renovated with a new winery, allowing the wines to achieve even higher quality.

The Domaine de Menard vineyards are home to a wealth of white grape varieties, typical of the region. Think Colombard, Ugni Blanc, Gros Manseng, and Sauvignon Blanc. These grapes thrive in the chalky terroir of the Cotes de Gascogne region.

Thanks to the unique terroir of the Cotes de Gascogne region, Domaine de Menard's wines are exceptionally fresh and aromatic. This is the winery's clear signature. A prime example is the Menard Cuvée Marine Cotes de Gascogne. Fresh, light, clean, and slightly salty, all perfectly balanced. Also try the slightly fresher Menard Sauvignon Blanc Cotes de Gascogne, where the well-known Sauvignon Blanc name takes center stage.
