The wines of Donnafugata from Italy

The name Donnafugata wasn't chosen entirely by chance. Neither were the names of the wines. It all has a very artistic ring to it. The common thread running through the winery is the well-known Italian novel Il Gattopardo (The Tiger Cat), by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa from 1958, which was adapted into a film in 1963. It's about an aristocratic family that falls into disrepair. Most of the novel takes place in Sicily, in the town of Donnafugata, not entirely coincidentally.

The finest wines from Donnafugata

All Donnafugata wines are named after characters from Il Gattopardo. For example, Donnafugata Tancredi, a perfect blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Nero d'Avola, is based on Tancredi Falconeri, the protagonist's nephew. Donnafugata Sedara, meanwhile, is based on the female protagonist, Angelica Sedara. With this wine, Donnafugata also demonstrates its ability to blend indigenous grapes (Nero d'Avola) with classic French grapes (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot).

Why buy Donnafugata wines?

If you love Sicilian wines, you can't miss Donnafugata's wines. They're deep, well-structured, and incredibly flavorful. Looking for a typical Sicilian wine? Then try Donnafugata Anthilia. Prefer something more classic? Choose Donnafugata La Fuga, where Chardonnay takes center stage. Donnafugata truly can do it all. The most unique aspect of this winery is its vineyards on the tiny island of Pantelleria, where the sublime dessert wine Donnafugata Ben Rye Passito di Pantelleria is produced.
